Last month, the Asia legal lateral market was relatively quiet due to the summer, with Seoul and Singapore the most active, each recording six major partner movements. The Hong Kong, Chinese mainland, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia markets each recorded between one to three lateral movements only.

Chinese law firms are continuing to expand both overseas and at home. Last month saw two firms newly entering Indonesia and Mexico, and another three launching domestic branches.
