In April, the India market was particularly busy with leading local law firm, JSA, making a major team hire from their competitor, CMS Induslaw, across two offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru.  Hong Kong and Singapore recorded seven and six major partner moves, respectively, including several moving from major international law firms to leading local players. In the Chinese mainland, the talent defection from US law firms to leading Chinese law firms continued, having witnessed two partners jumping ships from MoFo and Kirkland to JunHe and King & Wood last month.

A group of ‘Magic and Silver Circle’ UK firms announced their annual partnership promotions last month, which included many in their various Asia offices. Unsurprisingly, in HSF’s and Ashurst’s cases, where Australian operations are a substantial part of their Asia businesses, most of their new Asia partners were made up in Australia.
